Usera Councillor, Sonia Cea, this morning presented the Chinatown Tourism Quality Seals to several establishments in the district.

The new seal aims to consolidate this area as a cultural and gastronomic benchmark in the capital.

Cea highlighted that this seal “publicly recognizes the work of many establishments
that have decided to take a step forward by committing to quality, continuous improvement, and excellence in customer service.”

Furthermore, she emphasized that “behind each of these
seals lies effort, dedication, and a desire to continue growing.”

More than 350 establishments have received specific training and individualized support for
participating in this initiative, which is part of a program funded with over 140,000 euros
from the European Next-GenerationEU funds. The project has enabled the implementation of
a set of actions aimed at improving the district’s tourism quality, strengthening the
cultural identity of the Chinese community, and promoting a more sustainable and
decentralized tourism model.

For three months, work has been carried out, including the mapping and analysis of tourist
establishments in Chinatown Usera, the holding of specialized seminars, and personalized technical
assistance for businesses and professionals in the sector. The program has included specific
training in service quality, hygiene, safety, accessibility, and cultural and gastronomic tourism, with the
aim of attracting new audiences and visitors.

All of this is part of a broader municipal strategy that includes strengthening the
district’s connection with consolidated cultural spaces in the city such as Matadero Madrid and
Madrid Río, the digitalization project for commerce, the new Usera Tourist Information Point, and
actions to improve commercial quality. In total, these initiatives have
involved an investment of over ten million euros, financed by European
Next Generation EU funds within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and the
2022 Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination (PSTD) of the Community of Madrid. /
